How to Factory Reset the Dell XPS 15

Warning: A factory reset permanently erases all data, settings, and installed apps. Back up anything important before you begin.

Reset the Dell XPS 15 (Windows 11) to factory settings using Windows built-in reset functionality.

Steps

    Back up all important files to an external drive or cloud storage.

    Open the Start menu and click Settings (the gear icon).

    Navigate to System, then click Recovery.

    Under Recovery options, click Reset PC next to Reset this PC.

    Choose Remove everything to perform a full factory reset, or Keep my files to reinstall Windows while keeping personal files.

    Select Cloud download to download a fresh copy of Windows, or Local reinstall to use the existing installation.

    Review the summary of what will be removed and click Reset to begin. The process takes 30–60 minutes. Keep the laptop plugged in.
